Lake Batur, The Lake like a Crescent Moon in Bali


Batur is a village located in the North Penelokan, district of Kintamani, Bali, until 1926 was a prosperous village at Mount Batur.

Batur has a very interesting panorama, such as  Mount Batur and Lake Batur. Not only them,  the cool and fresh air during all day and night make this place as an interesting choice by tourists.

Bali has only four lakes. Lake Buyan, Lake Tamblingan, Lake Beratan and the last is the lake Batur. Lake Batur is the largest lake in Bali

Lake Batur is located right on side of Mount Batur, altitude about 1,050 meters above sea level, the lake surface area of approximately 16 km2 and a depth of about 65 meters. , Another uniqueness on Lake Batur is when viewed from a height, the lake is shaped like a crescent moon, which the length is 7 km and a width of 2.5 km.

Lake Batur is surrounded by mountains and mature trees. You can seeand enjoy the view of Lake Batur from higher place at Penelokan villages. You can also get around by boat provided by the local people.


All the uniqueness of Lake Batur in Bali making UNESCO establish the Lake Batur become Global Geopark Network or Wildlife Earth. So tourists who come not only can enjoy the beautiful lake, but also can learn about a variety of endemic fauna and  and all things related to the geopark.

How to get Lake Batur

Lake Batur is located in the village of North Penelokan, Kintamani, Bangli regency , about 65 km from Denpasar, Bali.  If you start Ngurah Rai Airport, this lake can be reached within 1.5 to 2 hours through Gianyar. But if you start the trip from downtown Singaraja, you can reach Lake Batur less then 1.5 hours.
